on supply side: more land changed to produce energy agriculture, or food products are used to produce fuels. and global warming is changing the weather and reduce food production. and the common worries on genetic modulated food prohibited the advancement in agriculture technology.
on demand side, population is growing and hard to die, due to advance medical treatment and social security. human is under a ever longest peaceful time in the last 5000 years. many poor societies can able to develop and demand more and more energy and food.
and food shortage is always is reason for great population decrease in a eco-system to bring back the balance. and the way to do it, no matter how, bring great vibration to the society.
there are many several ways to solve the problem. but none of it seem promising.
- change the diet habit, start to eat more vegetable then meat. or start to eat bugs.
- accept genetic modified food or even artificial food, like meat growth in Lab.
- an outbreak of virus or illness to reduce the population. in fact, human population is just too saturated. we can see unemployment rate is increasing in every corner of the world. since we don't need that many people to support the society.
- War. it is not necessary to be the war between different countries. and it is not necessary to spiting blood. it is the economic war. countries try to protect themselves and limited food export. and this may leas to a real war. another case is civil war, people may be think it is the bad government or some giant business tycoons who control the economy and make food price up.
- we eat less.
- alien discover the earth and save us from starving.
- change more percentage of out power to nuclear or solar, or wind or geothermal, but no fuel.
- the sun becomes dimmer and reduce the global warming. or we build a large mirror in space to block the light.
- global warming makes Sahara becomes a green land and we can plant on it.
- we colonize the Antarctica.
- we can photosynthesis.

Today's world is facing the dilemma of food shortage. Population growth, alternate use of edibles, the skirmishes between the food program workers and the hungry warring factions, climate changes due to pollution, shortage of supply and above all the energy crises are the issues that are not only difficult to solve but also reversely affect each other. If one issue is resolved the other is catalyzed by this redemption. If we try control the pollution by using the corn and other edibles the ozone layer is saved but the humanity is harmed due to shortage of food.
