cities i had been

on age 27 and half. i had been lived in some places. i am going to talk about the living and some personal feeling.

i spent most years in Hong Kong, where i growth up and start thinking. when i look back and compare, the public library system in HK is very good. libraries are big and easy to find. when compare to other places, may be HK is a small city, from east to west, 1 or 2 hours is ok, hk has high library density. a district is about few km square and each district must have a public library. i spent most time over there in my childhood. i must thank the libraries, which made me as a physicist.

HK is a small place. if someone ask me, what do i think about HK, i would say, it is getting worst. of course this comment is formed after i have chance to see other places and compare. anyway, after high school, i chose the physic major, not because i cannot chose other more money-making major but i truly love the beauty of nature rather then the colorful bills. But after that, i found there is a ending for a physics student in HK. there is so limited time to enjoy life as a physics student, that, after graduation, i have to find a job, all your learning in physics over the past years becomes a blank paper in your CV. the feeling is like a half-bake cake or an unfinished painting.

it is lucky that HK is an "international" city, which has many connection with outer world. i had been exchanged to Singapore for half year, although i am not a good student. i found that it totally changed my life. i met people, i improved my english, i know there is other options. Singapore is a smaller city. however, i still remember that it is a living city. the people are more simple and hardwork. some HK people may think they are dump, don't know how to by-pass the rules or do things in a quick way. but that is this nature, i like Singapore's people a lot. no to mention there "singlish". The student there is really serious. as far as i knew, no one copy homework but work together to understand concepts. Singapore is a business city, but it does not mean it is only business, there are many varieties. i think Singapore is a good city to live in. some people will complain that it is a boring city, not much to see. True, but the simple living style, and people can enjoy themselves without paying too much and rely too much on shopping mall, cinema, but stay in home, have family party, friend party. i think it is healthy.

the next city i like to talk about is Istanbul. it is an old city, before roman empire, this city is shinning between europe and east asia ( small asia). when walking on the road to the Tokapai palace, i can almost see the roman cavalry matching, the Sultan and his governors passing by. they all walked on the same road. the city is splitted into 3 parts by the Bosphorus. and is beautifully decorated by Camii. the people over there is ambition, and lividly. it is also a business city. that make people over there is really a good business man. and business always accomplish by meeting, dinning and touring. Moreover, Istanbul is the capital of Turkey, so, Turkish from every corners come to Istanbul. moreover, Russian, Greek, and middle east people also come to this city and make this city a truly diversify city. you can meet many people in istanbul. and turkish are all warm and friendly. you can always say hi to someone and start chatting. however, istanbul also a bit lost her direction on the future. i am not sure it is a good place for scientists, but it is a good place for business and living. one draw back is, english is not quite popular.

i only visit New York once, about 5 days. it is a truly a big apple. unlike HK and Signapore, New York has something extra, more art or humanity. people are diverse. yellow, white, black, brown, all you can find in this place. because many people from many difference culture, i can have real chinese food, not modified too much. not much can say, but i definitely like to live in there.

the last one i like to talk about is Tokyo. i already lived in here for 1 and half years. life is good, except food. Japanese food is good and high quality, but the variety is low. Although it is the biggest city in the world, not much people speak english. but japanese are very good with me. but due to language barrier, it is hard to know each other more. if i have time, i definitely will learn Japanese, seriously. The most lovely things in here is the season change. winter, snow, spring, sakura, summer, peach, autumn, red leaf.

will be continuous....
